Jelena Vujanovic

Jelena VujanovicWe are the citizens of this world and only we can change our lives

Jelena was born in Serbia at the period when no one felt safe to stay in the Balkans and especially in the countries of former Yugoslavia. Her parents decided that only the path of exile is the solution for one better tomorrow and one normal life. They decided to escape to beautiful Greece. Since then, Jelena continues to live and work in the country. She graduated from the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, with specialization on anthropology. Her interests are related to refugees, migrants, youth mobility and human rights in the region of the Balkans. Through her studies and her personal experience, she discovered the beauty and potential of the region and especially of the people who are living there. One of her dreams is to continue her studies on anthropology and focus more on the promotion of cooperation between Balkan countries.

"I consider myself lucky for many reasons but mainly because I discovered the world of USB and that gave me the opportunity to join this very pleasant and active youth group. I have the need to believe in something that is original and that is still dreaming for a better future of the youth. I have the need to see that there are still opportunities for young people to realize their dreams. How much more beautiful everyday life becomes when you're working with people who have goals, desire and creativity! I believe that one friend is major but thousands of them are not enough and I feel lucky that I got some more. We have to realize that the future belongs to us, we are the citizens of this world and it is only us that we can change our lives".
