"A week is quite enough to make lifelong friends from all over the world. If you add that to places none of us had ever been before, the food in between the sessions - which was more amazing than we could ever have wished for -, the charming venue with its peaceful surroundings and the tolerable - for our Mediterranean group - cold, they all make for an unparalleled experience. And that's exactly what our week in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Bremen for the Erasmus+ project "Practice makes Entrepreneurs" was.
But of course we all went there with a common goal in mind: to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation. And the trainers definitely delivered. They advised us on how to build our own business plan, how to work on an idea and figure out our target group. They initiated discussions and made us think about subjects such as what makes a good leader, the role of luck and opportunity vs. talent and personality on success and what makes a good business idea. All of these, they demonstrated through methods used in non-formal education. This drove the point home, as there is no better way to understand something than - as the title of the training course states - practice.
The credit for what we gained regarding the subject doesn't go to the trainers alone. Each of the participants had something new to offer, many through real-life experiences and success stories and all of them through their active participation and contribution to the sessions.
This whole mental journey couldn't have finished better than with a self-reflection. All of us where asked to answer the same questions regarding what the training course had given us, what we want to do with these newly gained assets and what our next step in life would be. There were probably as many different answers to these questions as were participants. We won't know for sure though, as we weren't required to share the result of this self-reflection but rather keep it as a reminder and a promise to ourselves.
The Erasmus+ experience is an unforgettable trip to diversity, where you realize how similar but at the same time how alike people from different countries can be. Discussions, different views and cultures, they all combine together to open our minds and broaden our horizons.
So much more than we thought could fit in just a few days. We can’t wait for the next training course."
