The Erasmus+ project ‘RESTART: Nature in Motion’ took place in Sicignano, Italy from the 25th of August until the 4th of September on the themes of sustainability, promotion of environmental friendly practices, climate change and raising awareness about living in nature. What an experience! Everyday during our workshops apart from gaining new information and knowledge, everyone got the opportunity to express their opinions and point of views on the subjects. We talked about climate change, rural areas, tourism, nature and we made suggestions and came up with solutions for a better future, our future because we are the ones that will define it, the ones that can make a change, with the power of knowledge on our side. Apart from learning about climate change and promotion of rural areas we got the chance to listen to new perspectives, have constructive dialogues and come closer with people from other cultures. But above all else, we connected with people from all over Europe. We worked together, we communicated, we created friendships, we got to know one another and most importantly ourselves. We also have to admit that it’s a challenge to expose yourself to people you don’t know, but a challenge definitely worth taking! We also got the chance through our cultural evenings to see and learn about the other countries. Traditional food and dances, songs and stories about each country made us feel closer and connected. One of our highlights was the Greek culture night, where we got the opportunity to present to our fellow volunteers our country. We welcomed them with the signature drink of Tsipouro, we showcased our beautiful country through some videos and then decided to introduce our country through a quiz and a phrase game ! The night went on with some traditional dances we tried to teach everyone like sirtaki and zeimpekiko. Definitely an unforgettable night for everyone. All in all taking part in this project was an amazing experience, from designing our future in a realistic way and striving to actually change, to the people and the friendships we made and the fun we had, we can say with certainty that it changed and shaped us in the best way possible! Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people stay for a while and move our souls to dance. They awaken us to a new understanding, leave footprints in our hearts and we are never, ever the same.
