What’s really important in Youth Exchange programs? Others would say the country or the nightlife of the city. However, we got the chance to experience a program about Fine arts in Fine learning that for sure made us focus all the way on what we were experiencing. Fine arts in Fine learning was a program that took place in a city not far away from Barcelona, Spain, called Vilanova. A beautiful small city that was complimenting the sense of being “a small family” with all the participants there. We were called to get taught and find out about the competences of learning through arts and how those could apply to a learning environment. Thus, under the experienced eye of certain people in such kind of programs we had the chance to be creative, to do things totally new for many of us and take advantage of all the new information we were getting day by day. To be honest, I can say with much confidence that all the activities, the people taking part and carrying about the project, the sense of unity and having a good time while trying to achieve all of our goals was something empowering. In addition, the fact that being involved in some kind of art before the program wasn’t a requirement, made everybody reveal their true artistic self in ways they never knew and exchange thoughts with either experienced or not experienced people on the field.
The Greek team had a great experience. Personally, we tried to represent Greece by making sure that everyone understands how we act like people in big groups of friends, while also being able to accomplish every task, teach and get taught by others on a variety of things. Since none of us hadn’t met each other before in our team, it was quite a challenge to attend the project, because we wouldn’t have the “safe zone” to go to when feeling uncomfortable by the numerous new people we had to meet for the first time, although that wasn’t a problem since we matched awesomely from the first moment even before arriving to Spain and in the same way happened with the rest of the participants when we got there. If I had to choose what to advise someone after experiencing Fine arts in Fine learning, would be “Always meet new people in a way that takes you out of your comfort zone”. That phrase was something enlightening when it came to me, because I was the exact opposite kind of a person. This program changed me and I wouldn’t be fair if I kept it for myself and not share it. Would I do it again? A million times more…
