A Unique Erasmus+ Experience: Connecting Across Cultures and Learning About the EU
Having participated in five Erasmus+ projects before, I thought I knew what to expect. However, this recent exchange turned out to be truly unique and enriching in ways I hadn’t anticipated. This project brought together participants from five different countries: Italy, Portugal, Poland, France, and Greece. The diversity of perspectives and backgrounds made this experience particularly special.
Throughout the project, we engaged in deep discussions about the challenges young people face in our respective countries. It was eye-opening to realize that despite our different cultural backgrounds, we all encounter similar issues and share concerns about the same topics. These conversations fostered a sense of solidarity and mutual understanding among us, highlighting the commonalities that unite European youth.
One of the most valuable aspects of this project was the knowledge I gained in the field of e-participation and the European Union. I learned more about the programs and initiatives that the European Union supports, which I found incredibly beneficial. Understanding these opportunities has empowered me as a young citizen of the EU, opening my eyes to the resources available to us.
The activities we participated in, particularly the hiking excursion, were more than just physical challenges—they were opportunities to build strong connections with the other participants. Through these shared experiences, I learned more about their cultures and exchanged ideas on a wide range of topics. This cultural exchange was a highlight of the project, deepening my appreciation for the diversity within our group.
In addition to the cultural insights, I also developed several key competences during this project. Notably, I enhanced my "learning how to learn" competence, which is crucial for adapting to new information and skills. I also improved my social competence, becoming more adept at navigating diverse social settings and working collaboratively with others.
In conclusion, this Erasmus+ project was incredibly beneficial for me. It provided me with unique experiences, broadened my understanding of the European Union's opportunities, and helped me develop valuable skills. I am grateful for the chance to participate and grow as both an individual and a member of the European community.
