When I first applied to the program I didn't think that it would be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I learned so much about other cultures, learned how to communicate with people that don't speak the same language as me, had so much fun during all the educational games and activities. And of course got familiar with the definition of democracy and the different types of it.
It took me a week to realize that it's over. And that's all you need to know about how important that experience was for me. Stratoni became a place like home in just 10 days. The people I met there will always be on my mind as the people that I spend some of the best days of my life with. And I thank them and miss them so much. Too much. But as someone said, try to keep the happy memories and this experience will always be a happy memory.

This summer I had the opportunity to travel to Halkidiki and to spend a whole week there with people from France, Italy and also Greece. We were staying in Stratoni, which is a very small village near the sea, with another group of people that they do volunteering work in the area.
The project is called “Young Gifs” and the main topic was democracy. So me and the rest of the leaders we organized activities such as debates, online and offline campaigns, poster making so the participants can involve and create their own opinions about politics. In other words, they had the chance to learn more and to explain to us what is democracy and how important is for the community. And also, to see what is different between the countries.
Apart from these, the volunteers organized every night so many fun activities for us, such us escape room, karaoke night, juice pong, basketball tournament etc.
But my favorite part in this project was the trip to Arnea, to Ouranoupolis and to a small island called Drenia! It was fantastic!
