Get up, stand up in Turkey

Get up, stand up in Turkey

On November 23-30, I traveled to Turkey and participated in the "Get up-Stand up" training course, on the subject of human rights. The Greek team consisted of 4 members (Ioanna, Agapi, Savvina and Giannis) and the other participating countries were Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova and Germany. In total, the number of participants was 20. The program was organized by the East-West-East organization located in Germany and took place in Silivria, a very small town near Istanbul and netxt to the sea.

The theme of the program was human rights and more specific examples of human rights violations in the countries participating in the program, as well as various theories and methods for the development and planning of program activities. We also did an introduction and discussed the history and categories of human rights and participated in very creative activities and games through which we learned and gained knowledge. Furthermore, in the last two days each country organized its own activity, while on the last night we held an interculture night.

My experience during the program was perfect! The program was very organized and fun and the organizers very kind and helpful. During the program, we got to know the other participants and had the opportunity to form strong bonds. Also, it was a very beautiful opportunity to get to know each other better, but also ourselves. It was an unforgettable experience, which helped me develop and acquire very important knowledge.
