I left my comfort zone and found myself: My ESC journey

From Anxiety to Confidence: Nicolas’ ESC Journey

What happens when you leave your comfort zone, move to another country, and give yourself the chance to grow?

In this episode, Nicolas reflects on his 45 days European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering experience with Balkan Hotspot and how the journey changed his mindset, confidence, and approach to mental well-being.

From dealing with anxiety and stress to overcoming personal limits, Nicolas shares the simple habits and experiences that helped him manage stress and become more resilient. He talks openly about the challenges he faced, the moments that pushed him outside his comfort zone, and how volunteering helped him build confidence.

But this experience was about much more than work. Nicolas shares his favorite cultural and social moments, what it was like to build an active social life in another country, meet new people, adapt to a different environment, and experience everyday life from a new perspective.

He also explores how ESC helped him develop professional skills as well as important soft skills such as communication, adaptability, independence, and confidence.

Ultimately, this episode is about what volunteering can give you beyond your CV: personal growth, new perspectives, meaningful connections, unforgettable experiences, and the confidence to overcome your limits.
