European Diversity in youth hands - Cyprus

It was generally a good experience. We were 40 people from different latitudes and longitudes of Europe. We had the opportunity to get to know the culture and better understand each other's way of thinking. Also, it was a very good opportunity to travel and visit Cyprus, while it was particularly interesting that we better understood the issue of the occupation of part of the island by Turkey.

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Create to Empower: European Diversity in Youth Hands” was implemented with the aim of promoting the core values of the European Union, including diversity, tolerance, respect, solidarity and human rights. The project took place in Pervolia, Cyprus, and brought together young people and group leaders from four European countries: Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Hungary. Participants aged 16 to 30 worked together in a multicultural environment based on non-formal education, encouraging active participation, open dialogue and mutual understanding.

Throughout the exchange, participants took part in interactive workshops, group discussions, team-building activities and creative sessions focused on intercultural dialogue, European identity and social inclusion. Cultural evenings offered the opportunity to present national traditions, customs and values, allowing participants to better understand cultural similarities and differences. Through experiential learning methods, young people developed important competences such as communication skills, teamwork, critical thinking and empathy, while strengthening their awareness of diversity and tolerance.

The project had a strong impact on the participants by increasing their cultural awareness, fostering intercultural competences and creating meaningful connections among young people from different countries. Participants were encouraged to become active multipliers of the project’s results by disseminating the outcomes through articles, social media, presentations and local activities in their communities. Overall, “Create to Empower: European Diversity in Youth Hands” highlighted the importance of youth participation in building a more inclusive, respectful and united Europe.
