The project "100Volts: 100 Volunteers, youthful energy for solidarity actions" is a Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas project in the frame of European Solidarity Corps, that involved 100 volunteers and a consortium of organisations from six different countries (Greece, Türkiye, Ukraine, Italy, Portugal, France) in solidarity activities in different locations in Greece throughout 2024.

Project aims to strengthen the solidarity sector's capacity to tackle common European challenges, through volunteering activities which benefit the local communities and the target groups, as well as the young participants who gain skills and experience useful for their personal and professional future. Also, it fosters the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, who are reached and involved in the activities.

The volunteering teams' activities address mainly the priority "Prevention, promotion and support in the field of health". At the same time, the recruitment program and complementary activities ensure an impact also related to the priority "Relief for persons fleeing armed conflicts and other victims of natural or man-made disasters", promoting solidarity among individuals and communities. The project saw the implementation of six volunteering teams that benefit communities, participants and participating organisations. Teams operated in the city of Thessaloniki, supporting diverse topics, local actors and communities, as well as the rural villages of Aristotelis Municipality in Halkidiki.

Some of the main activities of 100Volts include:

- Supporting the implementation of the Europride 2024 in Thessaloniki, in cooperation with partner organisation Thessaloniki Pride.

- Organising online and offline campaigns to raise awareness about HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Distribution of condoms and informative material among youth and the public.

- Provide the opportunity for on-the-spot free testing for HIV or STDs to the people of the Halkidiki region thanks to the mobile test unit of partner Positive Voice.

- Support for the organic farming project of partner ARGO RECOVERY COOPERATIVE by helping the workers and volunteers, as well as members of the program that are recovering from addictions.

- Organisation of open, inclusive, multilingual events in the city, to promote inclusion and socializing among youth and raise awareness about the project’s topics.

- Creation of magazines, videos, podcasts, blog articles dedicated to the topic of health and social issues.

- “Pink Week” during October, with external activities in the city dedicated to raising awareness and promote prevention of breast cancer.

- Distribution of informative material and protective sunscreen among tourists and young people, raising awareness regarding the dangers of sun exposure and skin cancer, in villages of Halkidiki.

- Organisation of events to promote a healthy lifestyle, including sports and healthy diets.

-Creation of a tool guide with step-by-step advice on how to implement effective volunteering actions for communities, that is available as an open source on Salto.

As in all ESC projects, the activities are based on non-formal methods and made open to people of all ages and backgrounds. The promotion of crucial European values of solidarity, inclusion and non-discrimination are in the core of the project’s implementation. Project was funded as part of the Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas call of European Solidarity Corps program.
