Sign Language for Beginners in Europe: Spread the Sign 2022-2025

This project is born from a desire to continue and innovate the long-running Spreadthesign initiative, which aims to make sign language accessible across Europe. Our mission is to empower deaf students, their teachers, and families by providing new, user-friendly sign language resources tailored for beginners. Often, teachers and family members of deaf individuals are hearing and lack sign language knowledge, creating communication barriers. Our project aims to bridge this gap by offering educational tools that enhance communication and promote inclusivity.

A key innovation of this project is the addition of Serbian Sign Language to the Spreadthesign dictionary, further expanding the number of languages available. Through the project’s mobile app, users will be able to access sign language content, interactive quizzes, and cultural insights from various European countries. This will allow deaf students to explore other cultures and languages in an engaging and interactive way, promoting a sense of European belonging and enhancing digital learning environments.

By providing easy access to sign language resources, this project aims to increase literacy among deaf individuals, improve communication between hearing and deaf communities, and promote a more inclusive society.
