The “Balkans: A Minorities Puzzle” project focused on researching and highlighting minority rights in the Balkan region, using modern research methods and digital storytelling techniques. The project aimed to document and showcase the real-life experiences and challenges faced by ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities.
As part of the project, digital storytelling techniques were used to produce long-form audiovisual content that captured personal stories and social realities. Particular emphasis was placed on authentic representation and the creation of impactful, socially driven content.
The produced videos presented the daily lives and social conditions of minority groups in countries such as Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, North Macedonia, and Albania, promoting awareness and intercultural dialogue across the region.
The main project deliverables included five short videos and a comprehensive handbook, providing an overview of the historical and social conditions that minorities in the Balkans have faced and, in many cases, continue to face. The project contributed significantly to raising awareness on human rights and social inclusion.
