The “BA.R.CO.DE (Balkan's Rainbow Colored Dawn Emerges)” project was an international initiative held in Thessaloniki, organized by United Societies of Balkans (U.S.B.) in collaboration with Thessaloniki Pride. The project aimed to strengthen cooperation and networking among young activists and representatives of LGBTQI+ communities from Eastern Europe and beyond.

A total of 28 young activists participated in the international meeting, where they exchanged experiences, shared best practices, and discussed the challenges faced by LGBTQI+ communities in their respective countries. The multicultural setting fostered the development of common strategies and enhanced transnational collaboration.

The main objectives of the meeting included addressing stereotypes and prejudices based on sexual orientation, as well as raising awareness about LGBTQI+ rights. Through interactive sessions and discussions, participants strengthened their understanding and their ability to actively promote equality and inclusion.

In addition, participants evaluated their past actions and reinforced their networks, setting concrete goals for the future. Within this context, they also explored the possibility of launching a joint regional initiative, such as a Balkan Pride, further supporting the vision of collective action and regional cooperation.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
