The “Communities Driving Change” project was a European initiative aimed at empowering citizens through digital tools and participatory processes. The project focused on strengthening active citizenship by enabling individuals to express their needs and opinions, and to contribute meaningfully to decision-making at local and European levels.
The concept of the project was inspired by the idea of “Speaker’s Corner,” where citizens can freely express their views and engage in public dialogue. In this context, the project created spaces and opportunities for open discussions, idea exchange, and the promotion of democratic culture within local communities.
The implementation included “democracy labs,” public consultations, and forums, through which key societal issues and community needs were identified and discussed. These activities were carried out across four countries, fostering transnational dialogue and enhancing the understanding of European democracy.
At the same time, innovative methodologies and digital tools were used to improve the quality of information reaching decision-makers. The project strengthened the connection between citizens and public authorities, promoting transparency, participation, and democratic accountability.
Funded by the “Europe for Citizens” programme, the project contributed to fostering European identity and encouraging active civic engagement.
