The M.U.S.E. (Music Uproots Stereotypes & Exclusion) program, held from August 10-22, 2023, with 65 participants from 10 countries (Estonia, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Armenia, Slovakia, Ireland, Poland, Turkey, and Greece), aimed to introduce people to the world of music through their own experiences and capabilities within social structures. The program sought to improve their existing musical and artistic skills and bring new knowledge through specific workshops: acting, stage practice, stage presence, mime art, dance theater, improvisation, music theory, music production, music composition, music entrepreneurship, music therapy, experiential approach and therapy through percussion, musical instrument construction, vocal training, synchronization, approach to music terminology and notation, simulation of handling stereotypical situations, and more.
Additionally, it aimed to develop strategies and methods of cooperation through interactive, non-formal learning activities that promoted teamwork and relationship-building. At the same time, it enhanced intercultural awareness and understanding of the concepts of stereotypes, inclusion, and the principle of equality.
Finally, the program included the creation of transnational cooperation to promote internationalization, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the field of music, and the development of critical thinking so that participants could identify and create opportunities in the job market. These specific learning tools enhanced the better use of EU mechanisms for transparency, recognition, and dissemination of good practices regarding European diversity through daily interaction.
The organization of the final Music Festival, featuring 65 musicians on stage, was managed by Kostas Sotos and Fotini Karamouzi, the program's trainers and coordinators.
