The project “Music Connects Schools in Europe” was a transnational initiative aimed at showcasing contemporary cultural creation through the musical expression of students from different European countries. A central element of the project was participation in the Xanthi music festival “Polis Oneiron,” which served as a platform for promoting cultural heritage and intercultural dialogue.

The project focused on generating both tangible and intangible results, highlighting the connection between music education and cultural heritage. Through their participation, students enhanced their musical skills, developed creative motivation, and experienced positive psychological and social impacts.

Five schools from Greece, Romania, Turkey, Italy, and Portugal participated in the project. Each school presented live musical performances at the festival, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration among students.

Key project outcomes included the recording of the musical performances and the development of a digital educational toolkit. This toolkit incorporated the recordings along with storytelling elements for each piece, serving as an innovative pedagogical resource for interdisciplinary music education in the classroom.

Additionally, the toolkit provided approaches to increase student engagement and included an analysis of teaching methodologies for integrating music into learning processes, contributing to improved educational practices.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
