The “Play with Me – Games of the Past, Sports for Today” project was a Small Collaborative Partnership under the Erasmus+ programme, coordinated by LECS from Romania. The project was implemented over a period of 18 months, starting in January 2019, and focused on preserving and promoting traditional games and sports as an important element of Europe’s intangible cultural heritage.
The main aim of the project was to highlight the value of traditional sports activities as a means of fostering intercultural dialogue, peace, and active youth participation. At the same time, it promoted youth empowerment through the adoption of ethical and inclusive sports practices, reinforcing values such as respect, cooperation, and solidarity.
The partnership involved five organizations from different European countries, all sharing common values and working towards the preservation and dissemination of traditional sports in modern society. Through its activities, the project promoted European traditional games and sports, giving young people the opportunity to explore cultural practices from the past and connect them with contemporary life.
The project contributed to strengthening cultural awareness and European identity, encouraging young people to engage in activities that combine sports with cultural heritage, building bridges between the past and the present.
