The general objective of the project was to raise participants’ awareness about the issue of refugees through direct interaction and personal engagement, going beyond the narratives and filters of the media. The project aimed to encourage critical reflection on policies such as border closures and the confinement of refugees in camps, in relation to the fundamental values of the European Union, including solidarity and respect for human rights.
Through experiential activities and dialogue-based processes, participants had the opportunity to develop a more informed and critical understanding of the refugee situation. The project enhanced awareness of the challenges faced by refugees, while also opening discussions about their potential integration into European societies.
At the same time, the project highlighted the perspective of refugee integration as a potential opportunity for cultural and economic development, once the immediate crisis is overcome. In this way, it contributed to fostering empathy, intercultural understanding, and active youth engagement in issues related to social cohesion and human rights.
