The “Staring at Goats – Propaganda, Scapegoating and ‘the Other’ 1918–2018” project focused on deconstructing the process of shaping the identity of the “Other” over the past 100 years. Through the analysis of historical and contemporary examples, the project explored the role of language in the construction of stereotypes and prejudices, strengthening participants’ ability to recognize and resist practices of exclusion and discrimination. At the same time, it raised awareness about hate speech and its consequences by using historical education and international campaigning tools.

The project was implemented by CGE Erfurt e.V. in cooperation with partners from Croatia, Estonia, Greece, and Portugal. A total of 13 events were organized, including educational activities, public discussions, and awareness-raising initiatives. The project began with a preparatory meeting in July 2018 and concluded in November 2019 with the presentation of its outcomes and findings.

Through its activities, the project enhanced participants’ critical thinking and media literacy, promoting dialogue and democratic participation. It also contributed to fostering a more inclusive society by encouraging understanding of diversity and the protection of human rights at the European level.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
