Connect the Dots in Spain

We confirmed our participation, booked the flights and packed our bags. We met at the airport and started our journey to Alicante, Spain. The reason for our trip was the “Connect the Dots” training course which focused on the concept of intersectionality through pop culture examples. All participants from 12 countries had the opportunity to examine different parameters of social exclusion through non-formal learning methods.

The fact that our meeting took place in Alicante, a city with rich historical and cultural elements, significantly enriched the whole experience. The structure and design of the program allowed us to work with all participants in a multitude of activities and have time to explore the city.

The whole experience was extremely useful as we developed our skills on professional as well as on personal level and were informed about both the parameters of the main subject of the program and non-formal education methods.

Coming back, we utilized what we gained in the program by planning an educational activity for students of the 1st Vocational High School of Evosmos at the YMCA Basketball Museum in Thessaloniki. The educational program focused on issues of social integration through sports. The students actively participated throughout the activity and shared their personal experiences.

Having shared this experience we can say with confidence that our participation in the program was a unique experience for us with many positive benefits, both professionally and personally. We got out of our safety zone, met interesting people and above all got to know ourselves a little better. We would highly recommend everyone to take the opportunity of an Erasmus + training courses.
