United Societies of Balkans, in collaboration with the NGO FERYP (Forum of European Roma Young People) and the Youth Department of the Council of Europe, co-organized the international seminar “Roma Youth Building Bridges,” which took place in Budapest from June 21 to 27. The seminar aimed to foster dialogue and strengthen cooperation between Roma and non-Roma organizations, while promoting the participation of Roma youth in European youth programs.
The initiative addressed the need to challenge stereotypical and deeply rooted perceptions about the Roma community, which often discourage non-Roma organizations from engaging with this topic. The seminar created an open platform for dialogue, highlighting key motivations and benefits for youth organizations to become actively involved in inclusive initiatives.
The program focused on developing intercultural understanding and collaboration skills, encouraging organizations to engage with multicultural issues. It also emphasized conflict management and the creation of a positive and inclusive environment for cooperation.
During the training, participants explored the needs and barriers faced by Roma youth in accessing European opportunities. They exchanged best practices and developed ideas and recommendations aimed at strengthening inclusion and enhancing the active participation of Roma youth in international projects.
