The “Active Citizenship Laboratory” project was an 8-day training course implemented by United Societies of Balkans in Thessaloniki (20–28/05/2018). The training brought together 28 youth workers, youth leaders, trainers, and representatives of civil society organizations from 11 European countries, with diverse social and cultural backgrounds. The programme was based on non-formal education and focused on understanding the importance of youth participation in society and the development of European citizenship.
The main objective of the project was to empower and motivate young people to actively participate in social, political, and democratic life at both local and European levels. Through experiential learning activities and the exchange of experiences, participants enhanced their knowledge and competences related to active citizenship and European values.
The project highlighted the importance of active citizens as key contributors to building a more inclusive and democratic society. Participants were encouraged to take initiative, engage other young people in civic processes, and contribute to shaping a more participatory and socially responsible Europe.
