City Voices is a European project co-funded by the CERV programme and the European Union, aimed at strengthening democracy, civic engagement and youth participation in urban communities across Europe. The project empowers young people aged 18-30, particularly those with fewer opportunities and migration backgrounds, to actively contribute to shaping their local environments and to play a meaningful role in decision-making processes.
What does the project focus on?
- Empowering youth to participate in civic and democratic life
- Promoting inclusion and equal opportunities
- Supporting young people in expressing their needs and ideas
- Strengthening connections between communities and decision-makers
At its core, City Voices promotes innovative and creative approaches to understanding community needs. Through participatory methods such as photography, digital storytelling, podcasting and interactive mapping, young people are encouraged to express their perspectives, share their experiences, and identify challenges within their communities. These tools not only amplify youth voices but also foster critical thinking, creativity and active citizenship.
City Voices is implemented by a diverse consortium of experienced organizations from across Europe, including NGOs, research institutes and educational bodies.
Consortium:
Autokreacja Foundation (co-ordinator), Poland
United Societies of Balkans, Greece
Social Cooperative Bond of Union, Italy
ASEID (Association for Employment, Inclusion and Development), Spain
Bratislava Policy Institute, Slovakia
Edushakers, Belgium
By fostering dialogue, creativity and collaboration, City Voices aims to build more inclusive, participatory and resilient urban communities where young people are not only heard but actively involved in shaping the future.
