The project “Development of New Interreligious Tools” was implemented in response to the increasing cultural and religious diversity in Europe, alongside the rise of intolerance and discrimination, particularly regarding religion. Within this context, youth workers, youth leaders, and NGO members worked together to create safe spaces where young people could openly express themselves and engage with sensitive topics through non-formal learning methods. However, it was identified that the available tools for facilitating meaningful interreligious dialogue were limited.
In response to this need, participants joined forces with experienced partners to develop creative and effective approaches for introducing and promoting interreligious dialogue among young people. A key element of the project was the use of experiential learning, with a strong focus on board games as educational tools, recognizing their value beyond simple activities and as powerful means of engagement and understanding.
The main objective of the project was the creation and development of innovative Interreligious Dialogue (IRD) tools, designed to empower youth workers and trainers. Through this process, participants enhanced their skills to work effectively in multicultural and multi-faith environments, while also exchanging best practices and strengthening the capacity of their organizations to implement similar initiatives.
As a result, new non-formal education tools were developed and tested, including a board game focused on interreligious dialogue, which supported learning about different religions and promoted tolerance and mutual understanding. Additionally, a network of organizations and multipliers was established across Europe, contributing to the dissemination of results and the promotion of diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion.
