The “Integration 101: Refugee Inclusion through Sport” project was an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships in Sport initiative involving organizations from six countries: Greece (USB), Romania, Ireland, Turkey, Hungary, and Italy. The project lasted 24 months and focused on using grassroots sport as a tool for social inclusion and education for refugees and third-country nationals.

The main objective of the project was to develop innovative tools to support professionals working in youth and sport sectors. Key outputs included a training manual for designing sports activities (“Pass”), a guide of best practices for social inclusion (“Catch”), and an online training course (MOOC – “Bounce”), all designed for professionals and stakeholders working with young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

The project promoted equal opportunities, strengthened youth work, and supported social inclusion through sport. It contributed to ensuring equal access to sports activities while fostering connections between local communities and newcomers.

Key activities included a kick-off meeting in Thessaloniki, an intermediate meeting in Bucharest, and the implementation of the “Wave” campaign during the European Week of Sport. These actions supported the dissemination of project results and strengthened transnational cooperation among partners.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
