LEAD

Erasmus+
Participation & Active Citizenship
LEAD (Learn, Engage, Advocate, Debate) is an Erasmus+ KA 154 project which is coordinated by the United Societies of Balkans, with partners the Municipality of Oraiokastro, the Municipality of Ampelokipoi-Menemeni, and the Municipality of Kordelio-Evosmos, and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and the Greek Youth & Lifelong Learning Foundation.

It aims to strengthen young people’s active participation in democratic life by empowering them to express their views, engage in decision-making processes, and shape their communities. The project responds to the growing need for meaningful youth engagement, particularly at the local level, where low participation rates, limited access to dialogue mechanisms, and lack of trust in institutions are often observed. Through non-formal education approaches, LEAD creates a dynamic framework for learning and action, bringing together young people, youth workers, and local stakeholders.

The key objectives of the project include developing civic competences and critical thinking skills, fostering dialogue between youth and decision-makers, promoting inclusion and representation of diverse groups of young people, and supporting youth-led initiatives.

The project will implement trainings, local consultation activities, debate sessions, and dissemination actions aimed at empowering young people as active citizens. Through these activities, LEAD contributes to building more participatory, democratic, and resilient communities, strengthening youth voices at both local and European levels.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
