The project focused on promoting participation in Non-Formal Learning (NFL) activities and highlighting the importance of validating and recognizing competences acquired outside the formal education system. Through an innovative methodology, the project emphasized the role of non-formal education as a key tool for skills development and personal growth among young people. At the same time, it built upon existing work in the field by researching and analyzing best practices and successful stories that demonstrated the value of non-formal learning.

Within the framework of the project, research, collection, and analysis of best practices and policies related to the validation of non-formal learning were carried out across 11 countries. Additionally, 22 young participants were trained as “Young Ambassadors of Non-Formal Learning,” taking an active role in promoting the importance of NFL through real-life experiences, success stories, and dedicated methodologies. These participants acted as multipliers, inspiring other young people and contributing to the wider dissemination of the project’s outcomes.

The project also contributed to the creation of a network of Young Ambassadors, laying the foundation for sustainable work in the field of non-formal learning. Furthermore, a comprehensive methodology was developed, including a dedicated manual, a catalogue of success stories, and both online and offline tools for facilitating workshops. In addition, a set of policy recommendations was produced to support the validation and recognition of competences acquired outside formal education, fostering collaboration among public institutions, the private sector, and civil society.

The project methodology was based on non-formal education and a peer-to-peer approach, emphasizing experiential learning. Trained young ambassadors used their own experiences to inspire other young people and stakeholders, contributing to the wider recognition and value of non-formal learning across different contexts.

The U.S.B. carry out educational, social, and volunteer mobility and youth-empowerment programs. Their goals are social inclusion, the creation and support of a network of active citizens, and improving their quality of life.
